AR Concert Review Part 4

Ok part 4... This review is getting more and more extensive day by day... Unexpectedly... I have decided to cut down on a lot of detail... So lets just see how it goes... I still haven't got to the half way mark yet... :S... I'll describe the highlights of the night in more detail and the rest will not be as detailed... So here goes...

Here was something that was definitely a highlight for the night... Unni Menon sang Yenna Vilae Azhagae from the movie Kadhalar Dhinam... I do not like the song... And previously I was under the impression Unni Menon was not a great stage performer... When he was introduced he got minimal claps, so I decided to scream and yell, just to make things a bit more lively... He gave a little intro and spoke... And then started singing... His voice was wonderful... Very unexpectedly... The crowds got really into it... The mobile phones started coming out one by one... Soon the audience glittered like the night sky... After the song finished, he got a massive response from the audience... At least 4-fold the amount he got when he was introduced to sing the song... Now there's a real performance... Truly Amazing...

Unni Menon

Next was Vennilavae Vennilavae from Minsara Kanavu... Sung by the duo Hariharan and Sadhana yet again... Sung fairly well, the thing to look out was for Hariharan's antics in this song... He got totally into it... Once after a solo bit that Sadhana sang, he pulled her hand and twirled her around... Seemed like she was caught off guard but of course it was totally planned... Same thing happened in the Melbourne concert... Entertaining performance and a very melodious number... One of my favs... (Hindi & Thamizh)

This pic is here because of the background I thought it was awesome!

Little Kailash Kher was back on stage again... Greated by many yells and screams of joy... The song he sang was Jinthamma Thullachamma... I have heard this song before and really like the beat behind it but have no idea whether these are the actual words or anything else about it... Kailash's powerful voice was backed up by the ever lively chorus singers swaying and dancing singing along... Those words (Jinthamma Thullachamma ) were sung again and again by them... A very lively foot tapping number! Loved this song... Still got it in my head... :)

Madhushree's turn again... The song was the hindi equivalent of Sandhai Kozhi from Ayuthu Ezhuthu, Yuva is the movie in hindi... Not much to say about this... Not really a highlight... Neverthless enjoyable of course... She sang a little in Thamizh and a LOT in Hindi... Still no grunts or grudges... She is a singer that really gets into what she's singing and that makes things more enjoyable... So enjoy is what we did...

Now it was turn for an old-timer... Deepan Chakravarthi... He sang Enna Solla Pogirai from Kandukondaen Kandukondean... The song I kind of liked in the movie... He seemed to be out of touch or something... There was a lot lacking... He went off tune a lot... Poor performance... Probably worst for the night in terms of singing...

Deepan Chakravarthy

Next up was Pachaai Nirammai from Alaipaithey, once again sung in both Hindi and Thamizh... Extremely well sung... Hariharan was the usual Hariharan, lively and he sang well... Not off-tune yet.. .Although when he sang this in Thamizh he did mis-pronounce a lot... Which is shocking... Ranjith did a great job... He seems to be a very promising singer and definitely one to look out for... Awesome performance for this basically...

Hariharan and Ranjith, both with a unique fashion sense! ;)

A song from Lagaan at last, I was waiting for a while for this to happen and here it was finally!!! O'Re Chori, from Lagaan was sung ever so beautifully by Alka Yagnik... Before starting it she said... For some reason Rahman always calls me for songs with Saaveri in it... You know what... She was sooo right... Every song he sung had that word in it... All extremely beautiful songs... She belted it out in style... Excellent performance... Definitely clearly better than Madhushree and Sadhana (of course not better than my favs Chitra but close to it)... A very dynamic voice for a very melodious song... Went extremely well together... :)

Alka Yagnik singing, full of might... The conductor standing at the back looking on with pride! :)

Next was Asmal and Alka singing Taal Se Taal from the movie... Taal of course... Beautiful song... They sang the fast version and Alka as usual was fantastic and Asmal did a very commendable job as well... They managed to really bring the song to life... Of course with the help of the wonderful and very lively chorus and the magnificant and in-synch orchestra... Great stuff!!! Beautiful song... A pleasure to hear live!!!

The pace of the songs gradually built up... Hum ma Hum ma... from Bombay was the song... AR and Blaaze were the singers... Blaaze started with a Humma Humma can you say Humma... Then AR followed... It became like a sort of competition... A few comments by Blaaze here and then followed by AR singing... Then AR did a little laugh...continued the song... And then they started the actual song... It was electrifying... Everyone got really into it... No one really danced... But nevertheless there was never a lack of enthusiasm... Towards the end of the song they started building the pace up with the Humma's... The crowd got clapping and really tapping their feet!!!

Blaaze and AR Rahman, really into the singing! Humma Humma... Say Humma!

Blaaze followed this by a bit of his B-A-B-A's... Baba thats what they say... ;) Awesome lively performance... Rapping is not my kinda thing in general... But I liked this... The Indian flair to it was awesome and just the touch it needed believe it or not... It wasn't much different from the actual song, but for the fact that the music was jarring and the crowd was having fun, increasing the enjoyability level immensely!!! ;)

Alright... So here it was the unnoficial interval... A break in momentum of the songs... The MC burst out onto the stage followed by Eminem... Yes thats right M&M (oops did I spell it wrong b4... ;) )... M & M were the initials of the organisers of the concerts and the people who ran the Charity Charindaa (acronym for "Charities through Indian Arts in Australia" )... They did a few minutes of talking and thanking and then... There was an announcement that there were a couple of special guests sitting in the audience amongst us... So here they are... Drumroll... Steve Waugh (Australian Cricketing Great), Baz Luhrmann (massive Hollywood director, Moulin Rouge being one of his recent famous films), Shankar (massive Kollywood director) & Ganapathi (Counsel General of Aus... (how boring... ;) lol... ))...

M1, Steve Waugh, AR Rahman & M2

Steve Waugh was here for supporting the organisation Charindaa and to see the great AR Live in Concert... Baz Luhrmann says, "I had come to the music of AR Rahman through the emotional and haunting score of ' Bombay ' and the wit and celebration of 'Lagaan'. But the more of AR's music I encountered the more I was to be amazed at the sheer diversity of styles: from swinging brass bands to triumphant anthems; from joyous pop to West-End musicals ('Bombay Dreams'). Whatever the style, AR Rahman's music always possesses a profound sense of humanity and spirit, qualities that inspire me the most." Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge is said to have been inspired by Bollywood themes... So now wonder he was at the concert... But how about director Shankar??? Does that mean AR is the music direction... I think the possibilities are extremely high... So a high chance that the music director for the next hit flick from Shankar is... ***AR! AR! AR!*** :)

Ok well this part of the revue ends now... More to come a little later... Soon hopefully... Just past the half way mark.. After this the rest should be smooth sailing... And hopefully really quick and efficient sailing as well! I need to finish these reviews and get back to good old regular blogging... :)

AR Concert Review Part 3

Here goes the third part of the review... I know some people have gone to the Singapore concert on the weekend and already written a review with as much detail as mine... Its amazing... Hats off to them! But anyway my review now continues... About the pictures I will put a couple up per each post and then after the reviews are over I will upload a couple of the best photos that I have from the concert. They are not excellent quality as we were not close enough to the stage and the camera zoom was not fantastic! :(... Without any further ado here goes...

As predicted AR Rahman sang his ever famous Dil Se Re song from the movie Dil Se... It was rendered in Thamizh and English... I love this song... Hearing it live was awesome... His voice was extremely powerful, the whole auditorium reverbrated with his voice... I would say this song is one of his best in terms of his music composition and singer collectively... The background music was absolutely fantastic and I also thought the chorus singers were awesome and very effective in this song...

The background/backdrop was simple but suited the song very well... Light was projected on the background screen and there was smoke, it created a lovely effect, which looked like clourful swirling mist... Seemed to add to the song's elegance a lot... Many wonderful voices from the chorus could be heard... I guess they are future singers to look out for in the industry (some current singers)... Many such as Karthik started as a chorus singer for AR Rahman and look where he is now... One of the most popular young male singers out there...

It was now the turn of the lively duo Hariharan and Sadhana Sargam yet again... I gritted my teeth and just waited for them to start singing... The background was a cactus shawdow sort of thing with background dancers... A women in a long flowing dress on stilts and a man in tights performing all sorts of acrobatics... Slow of course to go with the song... It was effective enough, nothing too special... Anyway the singers, were both very good... Hariharan really shone in this song... Sadhana was really good as well in the places where she had to sing high pitch (sounded just like Sujatha) and where it wasn't thamizh... Can't stand her pronounciation!!!! grrr!!!! Once again this was sung mainly in Hindi and little experts in Thamizh... None of Hariharan's antics were displayed during the rendition of this song... He just went out there sung it and did an awesome job!!! Background music once again was simply magnificant for this song, especially the guy on the flute (Will give him a special mention later on)!!!

Now it was time for a fully hindi song... It was by Mohammad Asmal, I have never heard of this guy before this... He had a pretty good voice... He put his heart and soul into the performance, extremely emotive... Having never heard this song before I didn't really get the feel for it, he sang extremely well in the parts which needed a lot of effort... It was evident that all that effort was there... The song was something like "Bindiyaa Aa Hista", no idea what exactly it was... Anyone know what I am talking about? For some reason they said it was from Swades I think perhaps, or maybe they were talking about something else... Deep confusions surrounding this one... Anyone able to clarify for me??? Anyone who went to the concert or

Next song was by Madhushree and Mohammad Asmal... I didn't really like Madhushree's voice in the songs that I have previously heard her sing in... However in this she was pretty good... Nothing too special... But a professional singer indeed... She has a very typical voice nothing too out of the ordinary... They sang the song "Hum Hain Iss Pal Yahan", from Kisna... I have never heard the song for more than 2 seconds... I was able to hear it in full this time... I liked it a lot it was a very melodious song... Very nice and soothing to listen to, with all the orchestra back up...

Asmal made a hat trick performance... and appeared in this song as well for the third time in a row... He was joined by Sadhana Sargam (original singer of this song), Ranjith and Naresh Iyer... Sadhana sang well but not well enough... I didn't like her original singing in this song and so I guess the live was slightly better in some bits and extremely worse in others (especially where she sang in Thamizh)... Ranjith and Naresh's voices were awesome and as was Asmal's in this song... All in all the whole song was very pleasant to hear... It was as pleasant as the background which was a flower with white petals and a yellow centre (daffodil or something? not entirely sure), on an slant (loved the angle which its was at for some reason... lol)...

This performance would have had to be one of my favourites for the night... Purely because of the song and the way it was carried out... Hariharan and Madhushree were set to blow the audience away... It started with Hariharan rendering a few notes and urging the audience to follow the lead... Suprisingly many people including myself did just that... What was even more suprising is that everyone was in tune... Chorus singing audience... All in tune... Truly amazing stuff and an exhilarating experience... It lasted about 30 secs to minute... At the end of it I could say, I have been taught by the great Hariharan himself... lol

The song was from Rangeela, Hey Ram... I used to love this song for a kid and would have done choreography for it at least 1000000 times... A wonderful song to hear and dance to... I was screaming my head off once Hariharan broke into the initial melody... Live was amazing... Sivamani did a spectacular job on the drums and the orchestra backup was also indeed very very spectacular... At the back was someone dressed in red, with huge sort of wings... I did not understad the relevance of this as I do not know what the lyrics to the song mean... :( I know all the words though... Only one line or one word should I say, I understand from this song... It shows that music truly does not need any language... Although understanding what is being said is a definite advantage...

Finally the wait was over... My absolute favourite was on stage... I am talking about none other than the GREAT Chitra herself... SPB and Chitra being my absolute favs it was a delight to see her on stage... SPB was sorely missed, the concert would have been a whole lot better if he was there but oh well... Hopefully next time... The song was also one of my all time favourites... Kannalanae from Bombay... She sounded just as she did in the song are dare I say even better if thats possible... Amazing and effortlessly her voice just flows like something sooo soft and soothing... I swear I had tears rolling down just hearing her voice... It was like reuniting with a long lost friend... Lol, I say this because I have previously seen her in concert and felt very moved after listening to her voice... Isai kuyil Chitra indeed... Amazing voice...

There ends the extensive third review... More reviews to come... More songs to analyse... I am trying to get it done as soon as possible before I forget everything... Short term memory you know... ;)

AR Concert Review Part 2

So here it is... The Review Part 2... Still unsure of how many parts there are to come... But trust me it will be very very detailed! So here it is... Starting from the second song of the night! Also before I forgot to tell you all about the so called "3D spectacular"... This was rather unspectacular, nothing too interesting, just backgrounds related to the songs were flying barely one metre out from where they were... Maybe it is because the 3D glasses were dodgy or something, but who really knows... Totally unimpressed with this and also I felt it was no use... As it detracted the attention from the main attractions which were the artists themselves...

Now here is the second unofficial start of the second review, starting with the second song of the night! It was Telephone Manipol from the movie Indian (Take note of this I will refer to this in a future review ;))... This was sung in hindi and tamil by Hariharan and Sadhana Sargam... I had no expectations for Hariharan, when concerning his voice on stage, as I have watched a couple of other live performances by him, which were not too flashy... But neverthless, he started and it was amazing... He sounded fantastic, loud powerful yet very melodious voice... Also suprisingly he stayed in tune throughout... He also managed to do his usual lively entertainment on stage, that is everything other than singing... Very lively performer... A delight to watch... lol... He added in Sydney Mallaipol to please the crowds... Those of you who were there did you realise he said it every time after the first??? I think he forgot to say it the first time.. lol!

Now Sadhana... Hmmm I don't like her... I heard that she was awesome from my friends who saw the concert in Melbourne... They said she was the best female singer on the night... So I expected her to live up to those standards... I was sourly dissapointed... Her voice sounded pretty good... She effortlessly reached the high notes, but this was just like any other pro singer... Nothing too interesting... The voice lacked a sparkle... I was ok with her voice for a fair way into the song... But as soon as she started singing in thamizh... Ooooo... I hated it... Her pronounciation was terrible.. Terribly off... Soooooo frustrating... Get it right or don't even try!

In the middle of this song, there was a drum bit for Sivamani and as expected he did an awesome, exxilerating job! But more to come on Sivamani's performance soon! So just wait and see... First time I am hearing him live... Sooo soooo awesome.... Me being someone who has always wanted to play drums was awe-struck, he was sooo fast and the beats just flowed... Too awesome... Of course AR's awesome music helped! ;)

[as an aside at home we were getting ready to go, and my aunt was commenting about my earrings saying, nice earrings... Why is it to make Hariharan feel jealous that his aren't as huge as yours... LOL... And well what do you know... He beat me, his were bigger than mine and a lot sparklier as well, mine were nothing compared to his... So guess who ended up being slightly envious... grrrr! JK! ]

Second Song... Endrendum.... Endrendrum... Endrendrum Punnagai...from Alaipaiyuthey! This was sung by Blaaze, George, Naresh and Ranjith... Very very lively to watch and great to hear... The guys really got into it and where dancing along & tapping their feet to the beats... Blaaze came in the middle and did his bit... He did well... A rapper, full hardcore style, as usual! He sung just like he did in the song, which is suprising and commendable... The other three did really well as well... George (has sung in Maro Maro from Boys, I'm not sure if its the same person in Kamma Kamma and Asathura in Ennaku 20Unnaku 18), Ranjith (unsure of whether he has sung in anything) and Naresh Iyer (Maiyil Izhagae (Ah Aah) fame)... All these three are chorus singers and they did a great job of reproducing the song, they did soo well I would say it was better than the original, maybe also because hearing this song "live", added more "life" to it! ;)

Third song was from... "Mangal Pandey-The Rising" One of AR's newest in hindi! "Mangal Mangal" was the song... The singer as I described him was some short guy with a ponytail dressed in a Poncho full of energy... My first thoughts were, "how could such a powerful voice come from a guy like that???"... He was a very small make... But boy oh boy was his voice powerful, really amazing... He was sooo lively, bouncing around the place, dancing with the beats... Showed his passion for singing... Oh btw... The guy I am talking about is none other than Kailash Kher, never would I have imagined him to look like this... He has an amazing voice... The song was made more lively by his enjoyment and enthusiasm! A very natural performer!

Fourth Song... Was from "Zubeidaa"... The song was "Mehndi Hai Rachnewali"... I have never heard this song before... I was not a big fan of this song... I also was not a big fan of the singer beforehand either, I didn't think her voice was too spectacular... I am talking about Alka Yagnik... However I was mistaken... She had a very nice powerful and precise way of singing... It was very melodious and she was extremely loud yet, she did not detract from the charm of her voice or the song... She was also always smiling! :)... This song was backed up by some dance by dancers and I think some of the chorus singers as well... The front two dancers were awesome the back dancers were the chorus singers and didn't dance with as much enthusiasm... The moves were not too flashy just small ones, giving the song a kinda homely touch!

There ends the review of the AR concert Part 2... This in itself has taken me ages... To think of what came in what order, what I should include, whether to put pics up, what pics to put, putting the pics together, writing and blabbing on like usual! Review 3 coming your way eventually as well! Normal blogging will resume after reviews are over!

Artists... They pics are not too clear, but clear enough I guess... I could not upload a larger version of this pic! Sorry guys... If its in high demand though I will...

AR Concert Review Part 1

At last time to write the first part of the review.... So here goes... I am guessing I am going to make it all rather detailed... Hopefully make you all feel like you were a part of it... So lets just wait and see... Sit back and try to enjoy the show as much as I did...

The gates were open at 5... We got there around 6:30... Parking had to be pre-booked... We parked and hurried into the auditorium... There were sooo many Indians... Everyone trying to push their way in, not realising there was a turnstile almost completely free... But I guess that was good for us... We found our way in quickly... Looked at the huge surroundings... Many Indians filled up the place... Every place outside was packed... We quickly got something to eat and went to find our seat... We entered the huge auditorium... located our seat... scanned the crowds, surveyed the surroundings... finally sat down and waited with baited breath...

Sydney Superdome

It was 7... The concert was meant to begin... However it did not... We fiddled with everything we had... Including the 3D glasses, required for the concert... They hardly seemed to have any proper 3D effect... It seemed like time was going very slow... It was occupied however by seeing and talking to familiar faces, always good to catch up, without knowing... So after that we settled in our seats... It was 7:15 and on came the very lively MC for the day... Cheers all around as the program was about to begin... The announcement was made...

The screen lit up...On it there were the words,

"Thanks to the creator
for making music
the language of all languages"

I thought this was absolutely sweet and extremely relevant...

Finally the wait ended and out came the GREAT A.R Rahman! :) I was sooo happy as this had been like a dream come true... or rather something I have always looked forward to... He burst out into Phaana, form Ayuthu Ezhuthu (Yuva in hindi)... He sang it in Hindi though... But still the song was the same and it was AR so no complaints whatsoever... He sounded great, no surprises there, the whole huge auditorium was filled with his powerful voice... AMAZING to describe it in short... He was occumpanied by someone else, not sure who it was, the face was familiar, but I really don't know... I think she was a chorus girl... She also sang really well...

For now I will end it with the first song... wait for a detailed review on the rest of the concert, song after song... I wrote it all down... What a nerd you say... hmm yeah i guess so... But come on its an AR Concert and these memories should last me a lifetime... and plus I have to share them with all of you... ;)

BlogStop!

That says BlogStop at the top not BlogSpot...The reason for this is because as of tomorrow I am on holidays for in-between terms... This inevitably means an extremely hectic schedule of socialising and unfortunately some uni work as well... I forgot to mention it also means a holiday (trip)... Meeting relatives and my cute little cousins... Don't think I've forgotten AR Concert! :D

Due to all this momentary excitement in my life, I may post spiratically or I may not post at all... Those of you who I talk to, write e-mails, scraps etc... if you wanna keep in touch (u better all very well keep in touch :P)... I will try to make a couple of posts here and there, but definitely do not expects the frequency they have been at in the last couple of weeks (Thank you very much, I have been posting consistantly everyday but for weekends *Round of applause*)...

Just to make this a little interesting I thought I would write a couple of personalised comments to a couple of people... If you are for some reason not one of them... Complain and I will add a comment for you as well.. Whoever that "you" might be... No hard feelings if I left "you" out... Because by reading this even "you" are covered... But just holler if you want a special comment/mention in this post... So here goes...

Priya: Keep me updated about our gang... ;) For those of you who don't know about the gang check out Priya's latest post. Any ideas I'll post them to you straight away...

Jagan: Scrap & test. ok???? Dialogue won't work now... :P No matter whatever "thing"s you say... :P
< align="justify">
Ram: Keep "preaching" ;) Don't overdo it... You might become too much of a chaamathu paiyya...

Vimal: After I get back VJ and I would have solved the mystery for sure... :p

Jeevan: Hope you check your mail... One of your new found friends a.k.a me, will be writing one...

RA: By the time I get back I expect you to be all good and happy with the word verification system... Its a goal I am setting for you... ok??? Also on behalf of Vimal: What are you searching for and when will the search end??? Its been a fair while already... hehehe

Vinesh: Keep the orange juice pouring... btw why orange juice??? I have been wondering for a while...

Kartik: I'll tell you about the concert after going to it and let you know that AR still has his charm.... :)

Rajesh: Where have you been? Missing from action for a fair while.. Whats up... Just my sis and I are going away, parents are still here...

Ok now I'm running out of time... Gotta run to uni... I'll keep adding people as per requests... Also I may change the comments as well, depending on whether I think of something that I should have written... So bye for now... Although keep watching the space for updates... You never know when it will hit ya! Also be tuned in for a review of the AR Concert thats surely to come... But when is the questions... All this gala holidaying etc... ends in 2 weeks... So after that its all back to routine...

(no number)

(no number)... International numbers or calls from calling cards come up with this display on my phone...

I hate this soo much... You never know who is calling and its not always the usuals which call it may be someone different. There's usually someone that calls often but only after a certain time, so in no way could it have been that person who called...

Another possibility is a person that said they will call, but they never do... And also they said they will call if certain conditions were met, and as they are not at this point in time it cannot be them either... So who is it that called???? I hate such mysteries... Just some stupid people pranking, or what if it was someone really important???? Will they call again???? Hmm frustration...

The possibilities are endless yet at the same time they are limited. Only a handful of people overseas know my number and no one from within Australia would be calling me from a calling card. So who could it be... That person better call again or I am going to go insane... Not really but it drives me up the wall to have missed such calls and not having the person call back...

I previously used to get these calls from a Private Number which means it is within Australia, but the number has been made private... They somehow used to call every time I was out with my friends... I don't know how... Also the voice sounded really familiar but I couldn't quiet pick it... But I was sure they knew me... So there you go there's my life filled with mystery... Or at least a little mystery...

Whoever the (no number) is you better surrender now... Or else... :S I dunno... There's not much I can do, I don't know who they are... Also another question if you call someone why do people only call once, especially if it is a no number... Can they not call back??? If you really wanted to get in touch with someone wouldn't you call more than once to ensure you were able to talk to them??? Grrr....... Sooo frustrated...

Hehehe... I know I'm making an issue out of nothing... But its rather frustrating for me... Especially since this or similar things happen a lot... (Msgs from unknown people, who claim to know me or sent the message to me by accident... , (no number) & Private Number calls at all times of the day (regardless of the time), etc... etc... [there's more but I'd rather not going into it all])

Morning Blues...

Being a monday morning... I'm tired and its all kinda like... Hmm uni, a new week, and grrrr its monday morning... I have to wake up now... early... geez.... How boring...

But then again wasn't quiet the same this week... Basically because of my dream and whats waiting for me this week... No you don't have to be a fortune teller to know whats ahead for you in the coming week... C0mmon sense is somewhat enuf to do that...
Anyway... the DREAM..... I had a dream last night that I was in the AR Rahman concert... The auditorium was small... The program was fully acoustic.... But it completely rocked... We were sitting only a metre or so in front of the singing greats... Pure heaven... Then I woke up... Realised it was all a dream and also realised it was monday morning...

Momentarily everything was looking boring and there was a tiny bit of sadness... But then I realised a couple of things...

Firstly
The dream was a dream and anyway the program wasn't as good as its going to be this weekend... Not as much glamour and glitz... Also the real one is going to have AR's melodious blarring through the huge auditorium filled with thousands of Indians known and unknown.... :D

Secondly
Its the last week of the term, which means two weeks of holidaying to come... Although I guess studying is required as well...

Thirdly
Uni until wednesday only... :D! Also most of the things I have to go to this week have been cancelled for some unknwon reason...

Fourthly
AR Concert again! YAY! Soooo damn exciting... First time ever... Its going to be a live 3D show with many of the greats performing right in front of us.... :D... The people who saw it this weekend in Melbourne said it was completely mind-blowing... Live dances are going to be there as well... Man too much excitement... I am also glad there are a couple of singers that aren't going to be coming... But then again there are going to be a couple that aren't going to be coming and I would have loved to have seen them live... Oh well... That is that... As long as AR is there its gr8!

This made me ultra happy... But then my mood was crushed yet again when I tried to belt out a couple of AR's numbers at home... I cannot sing for peanuts in the morning... I sounded like an old croaky frog... I don't think even one note was correct... hehehe... But hey I'm happy again.... Concert here we come! :D!

I Still Know What I Did Last Summer

A story (entirely fiction, not based on any of my real life events or anyone i know) I wrote a couple of years ago... Just thought I would put it up as I'm trying to write an entry every day! So here it is... Leave ur comments as usual! The pic I thought made a little sense so I just added it in... hehehe...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I still know what I did last summer, I swear I do. I know what happened. It wasn’t me, I am innocent. I was just an innocent bystander. I promise I didn’t do anything else. Alright, who am I kidding? I did do it; I ate one of those delicious cream filled donuts with rich chocolate sauce on top. I just had one though. Well one per day, that is.

Why should I be worried? Everyone else had two or more. But everyone else is also thinner than me. On the other hand, it wasn’t my fault that I had one; 2my fiendish friends tempted me into having one. It’s all their fault. If I was left alone I wouldn’t have even gone near that Donut shop. I have to admit that it was a temptation island. 1Each time I looked at it from across the road it would pull me towards it.

1I escaped from its tight clutch until my friends took me to 2the Garden of Eden full of a wonderful and enchanting spread filled with wonderful aromas and flavours. The mere sight of it spurred up perennial saliva in my mouth. It was simply brilliant. Did I forget to mention that they were really cheap? They cost ten cents each.

But still it’s no use trying to make myself think that I could get away with what I did without making myself feel bad. After all I put on a whole kilo. I looked so fat. 3I looked as plump as a tomato. How could I ever forget that summer? I must admit it was good while it lasted though. Although when I looked in the mirror, I really regretted what I did. 1Every time I looked into the mirror it would seem as if it hollered out rude remarks about my form.

Ever since last summer, I went on a diet. All I ate was a carrot and a cucumber and then I used to make myself throw it up. I lost a lot of weight but I was never happy with the way I looked. 3I always thought that I was really overweight and looked like a blooming monkey. I would always wear really loose clothes so that no one could see how fat I was. I have to tell you, I really hated it.

All this lasted until this summer. I started getting really sick I was always having dizzy spells. My mum also started noticing how thin I had become and she asked me what was happening to me. I didn’t tell her the truth. She took me to the doctor and had me examined. He examined me and gave the harsh verdict that I was ‘Anorexic’!

My mum was so worried. She asked me what I had been doing. I told her that I had done nothing. But of course as all mums do she somehow finally convinced me to tell her. She was really furious. 3But it didn’t last long as she couldn’t bear to see me as thin as a mantle stick, with all the intravenous tubes entangled upon my body like the tentacles of an octopus. She just burst into tears beside my bed. Now this is when I felt really guilty.

I made my mum cry. The one that has taken care of me all my life. The one who has cared for me and loved me at all times especially when I needed it. The part that I really feel guilty about is that she is not even crying for any selfish reasons but only because she thinks that she hasn’t brought me up properly. How could I do this to her? My heart bleeds when I see her cry. I can’t stand it, especially since it’s me that made her cry. 2In life’s rollercoaster ride I felt I was heading towards a steep descent.

This is what made me change my mind. I decided to change my ways. I decided to eat properly and I decided to keep fit. I realised that my ‘diet’ wouldn’t do me any good. Another promise that I have made to myself is to try satisfy my mum in any way possible. From now on I will be a changed person I will try everything and do my best. I will eat anything I want to, but I will keep fit.

Most of all I have decided to spend more time with my mum. Go shopping with her or just even stay home and have a nice friendly chat. I realised my life’s priorities and topping the list is making sure my mum is happy. That is after I get out of the hospital. This summer is sure going to be a different one.

Bright and Sun shiny Day!

Today... I went to uni... Attended a few hours of classes (all that were required) and then caught up with a couple of friends... We went and sat near the river to enjoy the weather... It was a bright day, with the sun shining... It was hot... Which was horrible... But neverthless occasionally there were a couple of cool breezez which were very welcoming and refreshing... So we sat near the river, watching the ducks swim by, the fish ocasionally jumping out of the water and making a huge splash, other birds flying by and always on the lookout for any menacing swans nearby... All in all a very pleasant way to spend the arvo and a great way to catch up with friends... ***SIGH*** Oh yeh did I forget to mention I went slightly photo crazy ;)... And yes it was with my mobile phone... :P
The tree below which we were sitting... No enlightenment tho... ;)

Same tree through my water bottle... lol...

The river and my uni across the river... What am I doing on this side of the river in that case you ask... ;)... Enjoying the scenery... During my free time... :P

Just thought I'd try a different angle... Look at the blue sky! :D

Yucky river... But lovely grass... Hmmm where did the ducks go? I could've sworn they were in this pic...

Typical aussie tree and the clouds scattered through the sky...

Different but still typical tree and a different area of sky but the same sorts of clouds...

Wedding...

Real pic of my cuz and her new hubby... Just some photoshop manipulation added! :)

Today a cousin of mine is getting married in India. I am not there, I am back here in good old aus! This cousin of mine is not exactly one of my closest cousins. To the extent that I would have at most spoken 100 sentences or less my entire life. So really there are no regrets that I was unable to attend the weddding.

Anyway about the wedding and the prelim excitement. They all went shopping, buying clothes for everyone. The bride my cousin bought five sarees for herself. Her sisters bought a couple of sarees & churidhars for themselves. Me being a cousin got nothing... :(... Oh well... Her second cousins however (I don't know if its exactly second... but neverthless.... her dad's aunt's grandchildren) got dresses from her for the wedding. They are not that close either but I guess it comes from being there prior to the wedding and attending the wedding.

Anyway the point of this post is that it seems fun, the concept of an Indian wedding. I have been to a couple but, never really looked at the behind the scenes activities. Deciding the menu, fun I guess... Inviting and seeing everyone... Awesome... But best of all... Going shopping & getting ready with close friends and family (for girls beauty parlour visits etc... ) :) They all went together and it was all laughter and joy all around, as we called on the mobile and could hear all the background noise.

Having friends and family there would be another awesome thing. An wedding I went to last year, everyone from their family was there many cousins etc... Soo awesome, me being very very distantly related to many there had soo much fun, so I can just imagine how it would have been for the bride and groom. Being introduced to new family or friends etc... Also it was a marriage where there was dancing... This made it all the more fun... All college students and some older people were dancing... Great time.... For sure... Also there was a live performance by a popular playback singer as he was the Groom's best friend. That was the best wedding I have been to yet! :) Food wasn't great but I never had time to eat... So no problems there...

Anyway, it was just something I found to be sooo amazing... Indian weddings... Full of culture, colour, music in the background, a range of food, sometimes dancing, many people, especially those close to you... Its like a festival in itself... I can say one thing... I am looking forward to getting married because of the ceremonies and the celebrations... I don't know about the lifelong commitment and everything else that comes with it.... :S (Mother-in-law etc... hehehe... ;) ) Something I won't have to be worrying about for a fair few years... Thank goodness...

Requirements for a wedding

  • Family
  • Friends
  • Decorations
  • Planned menu
  • Good music, artists & sound system
  • Dancing
  • Nice hall/mandabam
  • Bride and Groom (obviously)
  • Happy People :)
  • Fuss/Galatta
  • Kids
  • Prelim shopping
  • Beauty Parlour visits (last minute panic)
  • Pre and post celebrations [as reminded by Ram] (Mehendi, Nallangu (why is it done for almost every function? birthdays and all at times.... anyone know the relevance of it?), Bachelor party, Bachelorette party (we should be allowed to have one if you guys do :P, they do it here...) )
  • Good photographer and videocamera ppl (There should be something to look back on to treasure)
  • And of course Joy, Happiness and no tension!

Can anyone think of anymore??? This is just a rough list... Speaking from the few Indian weddings I have been to.
